About CloudBees SDM

CloudBees SDM provides a comprehensive view of what is happening in your software delivery lifecycle. Using CloudBees SDM, you can:

  • Measure, manage, and continuously improve your team’s ability to deliver features

  • Connect software development efforts to the rest of the business responsible for bringing software successfully to market

  • Have one central location to see all product development projects across the organization, linking project details, issues, analytics, team assignments, and current status

With CloudBees SDM, you can define products and correlate activity from your teams, value streams, GitHub repositories, Jenkins jobs, and other sources to view actionable and relevant details of your teams' contributions.

As a developer, this collated view provides an overview that highlights blockages in the workflow like failing builds, stale pull requests, and blocked tasks. Developers can use the product overview and feature overview to manage the work in progress and ensure efficient execution so they can write code with minimal distractions.

Engineering managers can understand where their teams are blocked, get metrics and visual data of their feature delivery efficiency, and can set policies to help improve the team workflow.

Exploring CloudBees SDM

CloudBees SDM admins and users

CloudBees SDM has basic role-based access controls (RBAC) that allows for two types of users:

  • An administrator, or admin, performs maintenance operations for users and can create and connect policies and products to CloudBees SDM.

  • A user can perform all other operations related to the product or products, such as connect tools, create reports, and run queries.

These roles correspond to documentation locations. With their elevated privileges, admins tend to be responsible for the configuration and maintenance of CloudBees SDM. Procedures for these tasks are located in the Administration guide.

Instructions for using CloudBees SDM are in the User guide. Most of the tasks and features described in this guide can be performed by any CloudBees SDM user.
