Organizing work with Products

Products is a single place for all product development projects across the organization, that links teams, tools, services and events so you can manage the on-time delivery of products.

As you integrate services like GitHub and Jenkins, Products provides a consolidated view of repositories, builds, and pull requests associated with each product. The more services that are integrated, the more complete a picture of the software delivery you can create.

Some product screens, such as Repositories and Overview, provide status labels or icons color coded according to the status severity:

  • Red indicates an issue that needs immediate attention to deal with something potentially blocking work.

  • Yellow should be investigated soon and could potentially block work.

  • Green notifies you that an action needs to be taken, but nothing is blocked.

Status labels are applied when a policy’s criteria matches. For more information on policies, refer to Managing policies. Only CloudBees SDM administrators can create, modify, apply, and delete policies.

A grayed-out button or error message indicates that you do can not modify or create an item, like a product or policy. Contact your CloudBees SDM administrator.

Creating a product

To create a product:

  1. Select Products.

  2. Select Create product, or Create new product if this is the first product.

  3. Enter a name for the product, and then select Create.

The new product name appears on Products.

Once the product is created, you can use the options menu (three vertical dots) to edit the product name or delete the product.

Editing a product

You can modify a product by changing its name or associated color.

To change the product name:

  1. From Products, select the three vertical dots next to the product name.

  2. Select Edit name.

  3. Modify the product name, and then select Save changes.

The updated product name will appear on Products.

Deleting a product

Deleting a product removes all associated services, repositories, etc. The services are still available within CloudBees SDM and can be associated with other products.

To delete a product:

  1. From Products, select the three vertical dots next to the product name.

  2. Select Delete product.

  3. Check the box to acknowledge that you wish to delete the product, and then select Delete product.
