Issue

Users may report that standard menus such as "Manage Jenkins", "Support", "Alerts", or other plugin features are not visible in the left-hand sidebar of the UI.

Resolution

Look in the top-right corner of the UI

CloudBees CI 2.516.1.28665 introduces a refreshed user interface, redesigned to align with the Jenkins 2.516.1 LTS release. Key navigation and header enhancements include:

  • The Manage Jenkins page is now exclusively accessible via the Manage Jenkins icon in the upper-right corner.

  • Alerts are now conveniently located under the Alerts icon in the upper-right corner.

  • Global actions—such as Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) groups and roles, CloudBees CI Teams, Configuration as Code (CasC) bundle loading, and the CloudBees Support page—have moved to the More actions icon in the upper-right corner.

These options are no longer available from the left pane. Contextual actions relevant to the current page remain in the left pane, ensuring quick access to page-specific features, while global actions are centralized in the header for a more streamlined experience.

Look for the gear, exclamation, or profile icons:

Management Icons in the top right corner
  • Plugins may add additional icons for specific management tasks, please make sure to review if they are present.

Verify your user permissions

Even with the new UI layout, if the current user lacks required permissions, they will not see management options. To validate:

  • Ensure your user or group has the Overall/Administer or Manage permissions depending on the security configuration.

  • If RBAC is enabled:

    • Go to CloudBees Role-Based Access Control > verify group and user roles

    • Confirm if inherited roles provide access at the root level or specific folders/controllers

Review Custom Views or Restrictions

  • Some plugins or customized views may affect visibility or placement of menus.

  • Consider resetting the view or testing on the default dashboard.

Still not visible? Request assistance from an administrator account

  • Ask your administrator to verify your role assignments (especially if RBAC or Team plugins are in use).

  • Additionally, if possible, to confirm whether it’s a permission issue or UI confusion, log in with a known admin account to cross-check if the menu appears correctly.
