Managing applications

This section describes how to configure settings in the CloudBees Feature Flags dashboard for your app.

The Application Settings (App settings) page involves setting up and administering the feature flags for your application. This section defines how you integrate your application with CloudBees Feature Flags.

Updating application information

  • Go to the CloudBees Feature Flags dashboard, on the left sidebar, click on App Settings, at the very bottom of that list. This will bring you to the App Settings page.

  • The Information tab will be active. From here, you can update app information.

  • To change the name of your app, edit the text in the App Name text box. There is no need to save when you finish typing — your updates will be processed automatically.

  • You can also observe the name of your app changing in the upper left-hand corner of the page.

  • Notice below the App Name text box that you can see a Rollout Key text box. This contains your app’s unique key that you will use to authenticate through the API.

  • You can manually copy this key to use it, or click the Copy link to automatically copy it to your clipboard. Having this in your clipboard will be relevant when installing the CloudBees Feature Flags SDK.

  • Below that, you’ll notice the Install App link. This will launch instructions for how to install your application, including where to place your key.

Managing custom properties

  • Navigate to the App Settings page as you did in the Updating App Information section.

  • Click the Custom Properties tab.

  • Here, you will find a list of all custom properties that you report in your source code.

  • Specifically, you can view the property’s name (Name), its platform (Platform), its data type in code (Type), the first version in which it appeared (Start Version) and the last version in which it appeared (End Version).

Deleting your App

  • Navigate to the App Settings page as you did in the Updating App Information section.

  • Click the Delete App tab.

  • There, you will see a message about the implications of deleting your app along with a Delete button. If you wish to proceed, click the Delete button.

  • You will be prompted with a message confirming your desire to delete the app. If you wish to proceed, click the Delete button. Otherwise, click Cancel.

  • Your app is now deleted. You can create a new app at this point if you wish.
