Teams are groups of users within an organization (org) that can be assigned common permissions. You can define a team for a specific component or access level. For example, you can create a team of users and assign them to a role granting them admin permissions for a specific component, but maintaining read-only access to everything else. This setup ensures that this team has the necessary control over their designated area, but withholds broader administrative access.
System-generated teams
System-generated teams are designed to simplify adding new users and admins to an org by automatically providing a set of permissions based on team membership. This approach eliminates the need to configure permissions for each individual, allowing you to quickly invite users, assign them appropriate permissions, and enable them to use the platform with approved access. For added flexibility, you can also create custom teams tailored to specific project needs.
Team | Permissions |
---|---|
User (System) |
Read-only access to all functionality within the tenant org. |
Admin (System) |
Full administrative control over all functionality within the tenant org, including access control management, resource creation and configuration, and user invitations. |
A user may have User (System) permissions granted for one or more orgs, and Admin (System) permissions granted for others.
For example, User-A is a member of the following system-generated teams:
-
The Admin (System) team in the tenant Organization-A they were automatically assigned to when they signed up for the CloudBees platform.
-
The Admin (System) team in Organization-B granted to them when they accepted an invitation to that org.
-
The User (System) team in Organization-C granted to them when they accepted an invitation to that org.
User-A can also be a member of multiple custom teams. Each team is only valid for the granting org. View each org you are a member of in
