Configure notifications

2 minute read

Set up notifications to inform users of workflow completions, deployments, and feature flag changes through email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, or webhooks. For background on platform event types and configuration patterns, refer to Understanding platform configuration.

You need administrative permissions in your organization to create, update, or delete notifications. Refer to Access organizations for navigation guidance.

In CloudBees Unify, you can set up notifications so that users are informed of any updates in an organization. Notify designated users of all platform events, or just feature management events.

The following types of notification are available:

  • Email message.

  • Slack message in a specified channel.

  • Microsoft Teams message in a specified channel.

  • Webhook.

To configure notifications, select an organization, then navigate to Configurations > Notifications. Use the ellipsis menu next to any notification to edit or delete it.

Notification events and types

Configure notifications for all platform events or only for feature management events.

General notification events:

  • When a workflow job completes.

  • When a workflow run completes.

  • When a user has exceeded their limit of monthly workflow minutes.

Feature management events:

  • A flag is created, updated, or deleted.

  • A flag status is updated.

  • A flag value is synced.

  • A flag configuration is updated.

  • A custom property is created, updated, or deleted.

  • A target group is created, updated, or synced.

  • A flag label is created, updated, or deleted.

Feature management notifications exclude general platform events.

Create notification configurations

  1. Select Create notification and choose your notification type:

    • Email: Enter channel name and comma-separated email addresses.

    • Microsoft Teams/Slack webhook: Enter channel name and webhook URL.

    • Custom webhook: Enter webhook details and authorization token.

  2. (Optional) Select feature management environments to limit notifications to feature management events only.

  3. Select Submit.

Webhook URLs are required for all types except email. Refer to Microsoft Teams, Slack, or your custom webhook documentation for URL setup.

Update or delete notifications

Use the ellipsis menu next to any notification configuration to edit or delete it.

Deleting a notification configuration is irreversible.
