View resource pools

To view all resource pools known to the CloudBees CD/RO server, navigate to DevOps Essentials  Resource Pools.

The Resource pools page displays the following information:

Column Name Description

Name

This is the name you supplied for this resource pool. Click on a pool name to go to the Resource Pool Details page.

Type

The type is either static or dynamic.

Resources

The number of resources in the resource pool.

Resource Template Name

The name of the resource template to which the resource is applied. Only dynamic resources can be applied to a resource template.

Auto Delete

If this column is selected with a check mark, the pool will be deleted when the last resource is deleted or removed.

Enabled

If this box is checked, this resource pool is enabled.

Actions

This menu displays multiple options for activities to view and/or edit a resource pool. The options are as follows:

  • Details

  • DSL Export

  • Resources

  • Properties

  • Access control

  • Change History

  • Tear Down

  • Delete

View resource pools details

The Resource pools details page displays information for the resource pool you selected, including a summary of the specifications supplied to create the resource pool, current resources assigned to this pool, and the ability to add or remove resources.

To view the details of a specific resource pool, do one of the following:

  • Select the name of the resource pool.

  • Select the Details option from the Actions icon associated with that resource pool.

The Edit Resource Pool pop-up opens with the Details screen shown. The page contains information previously defined for the pool:

  • Name: The name of the resource pool previously created.

  • Description: The description for this object, if one has been provided.

  • Ordering Filter: The Javascript ordering filter designated (refer to Create or edit resource pools for more information) or empty if no filter has been applied.

  • Auto Delete: When Yes is specified, the pool is deleted when the last remaining resource is removed or deleted from the pool.

  • Enabled: Yes specifies this pool is enabled for use.

  • Tags: Represents group related objects bound together by a user-defined term. Select Manage Tags to the right to tag this object, modify, or delete a tag.

To view the resources included in this resource pool, do one of the following:

  • Select the Resources option on the Edit Resource Pool pop-up screen.

  • Select the Resources option from the Actions icon associated with that resource pool.

The Resources screen contains information previously defined when the pool was created:

  • Name: The name of the resource assigned to the resource pool.

  • Platform: The platform each resource is currently using.

  • Up/Down: The state each resource is currently in.

  • Used in…: The project each resource is currently used in.

Actions menu options

The Actions menu offers several additional options for the resource pool:

  • Details: This opens the Edit Resource pool pop-up screen. For more information, refer to the Resource pools details screen section.

  • DSL Export: This opens the Export DSL screen. Enable or disable the appropriate selections for the export format and additional options listed.

  • Resources: This opens the Edit Resources pop-up screen. For more information, refer to the Resource pools resources screen section.

  • Properties: This opens the Properties screen. Properties are the object related to the resource pool. Do one of the following:

    • Select the + to Add Property to the object and complete the fields shown:

      • Property name: Enter a name for the property.

      • Expandable: Enable this checkbox to allow this property to be referenced for expansion.

      • Place into…: Select the directory (property sheet) to contain the property.

      • Description: Enter a description of the property.

      • Value: Declare a value for the property. The value is the term or word returned when the property is referenced.

    • Select the Add directory icon to add a directory for the property.

      • Directory: Enter a name for the directory to be added.

      • Place into…: Select the directory (property sheet) to contain the property.

  • Access control: Displays the privileges assigned to the resource pool. You can also view the resource pools inherited privileges as well as add additional privileges.

    • Select the + to add a privilege. Complete the Type field and indicate the permission level (inherit, allow, or deny) for each category (read, modify, execute, and change permissions) by enabling the appropriate radio buttons. Select OK when done.

  • Change History: Displays the change history for that resource pool.

  • Tear Down: Removes (decommissions) the dynamic resource pool from a dynamic environment.

    This option is unavailable for static resource pools.
  • Delete: This deletes the resource pool.

    Deleting a resource pool does not delete the resources referenced by the pool.
