You can add widgets to an existing dashboard to extend its functionality. You can create a widget or copy a widget from an existing widget. For example, you might want to create two entirely new widgets and also add copies of two widgets that exist in a second dashboard.

Create a widget

To create a widget and add it to a dashboard:

  1. Select the dashboard from the Dashboards menu.

    The dashboard displays in graphical viewing mode.

  2. Select Dashboard Editor to switch to dashboard edit mode.

  3. Select Add Widget and select Create New. A dialog for creating the widget displays.

  4. Enter the following details:

    Menu or Field Description

    Name

    Name of the widget to create. This name displays as the title above the widget in the dashboard. For special characters to avoid in names, refer to Special characters in CloudBees CD/RO object names.

    Description

    (Optional) The description of the new widget.

    Place into…

    Command center widget types: Header or column in which to add the new widget. Select Header or Column (the default), and then select the specific header or column.

    Widget position

    Command center widget types: Location of the new widget in relation to another widget, if one already exists, that you choose from the Select Widget menu. You can ignore the widget position setting if this is the first widget.

  5. Select Define and then edit the definition of the widget. For details, refer to Design a command center dashboard or Configure a standard dashboard.

Copy a widget

To copy a widget from one dashboard to another:

  1. Select the dashboard to contain the new widget from the Dashboards menu. The dashboard displays in graphical viewing mode.

  2. Select Dashboard Editor to switch to edit mode.

  3. Select Add Widget, and select Copy Existing. The New Widget from Existing dialog displays.

  4. Choose a project from the Select Project menu.

  5. Choose a dashboard from the Select Dashboard menu. The list of available widgets to copy displays in the dialog.

  6. Select the widget that you want to copy. A dialog for editing the new widget displays. The name and description from the source widget are prefilled.

  7. (Optional) Modify the following details in the widget editor:

    Menu or Field Description

    Name

    Name of the widget to create. This name displays as the title above the widget in the dashboard. For special characters to avoid in names, refer to Special characters in CloudBees CD/RO object names.

    Description

    (Optional) Description of the new widget.

  8. Select Define, and then edit the definition of the widget. For details, refer to Design a command center dashboard and Configure a standard dashboard.
