The CloudBees CI MCP Router supports two ways to authenticate to CloudBees CI: OAuth and API token. OAuth is recommended because each request carries the identity of the user or tool that made it. The CloudBees CI MCP Router stores only short-lived tokens scoped to the controllers it needs to access, rather than relying on a single shared token.

Authenticating with an API token will be deprecated in the future. For new deployments, CloudBees recommends that you use OAuth, which authenticates each request individually rather than relying on a shared token.
